Empowering students by focusing on strengths NOT deficits

As an educator and parent, I have always felt that we need to nurture the strengths of our students in  order to develop life-long learners. Yet, if a student is below grade level in reading most schools give them extra time in reading, if they struggle in math students get math remediation. All this time is spent on providing extra support for the areas where students are deficient and many times it prevents them from further developing their strengths and passions. What if we changed our thinking? What if we focused on strengths instead? Successful people achieve excellence by developing their talents and strengths, not by trying to develop their weaknesses. In fact, I read an article recently in The Huffington Post that stated,” research by Gallup indicates that when adults are able to use their strengths in their careers, then they are six times more likely to be engaged in their jobs and three times more likely to report having an excellent quality of life.” Imagine how different student learning would look if we focused on their strengths.

This is the Inspire Academy Difference! We focus on strengthening student learning by helping students develop their natural gifts while simultaneously providing individualized instruction in all content areas.
